In the aftermath of the landfill closings of 1995, El Día Inc. began to evaluate different alternatives related to the final disposal of paper waste generated in the pre and post consumer stages of their operation. In response to their concern, they began planning and developing an installation dedicated to the handling of recyclable materials in the island.

Pronatura was established in 1997 as an initiative of the Ferré Rangel Group. The installation was designed for the collection, processing and final disposal of various materials with the potential of being recycled using the latest technology.

The objective is to offer a feasible alternative for the disposition of recycled materials though the development and implementation of effective and efficient strategies in the local market.
